🌴 Column offers unlimited paid time-off to all full and part-time Columnists. We also offer paid company holidays — these vary based upon the country that you are working in.
</aside>
Full- and part-time (30+ hours per week) Columnists are eligible for unlimited paid time off. We encourage all full-time team members to take the time they need to operate at peak performance. As such, Column does not limit vacation times or days off for short-term illness.
We encourage team members to take at least 2 week-long vacations throughout the year with longer vacations for significant life moments (e.g., wedding). We also encourage team members to take individual days off throughout the year for long weekends, family commitments, or other days of personal or religious significance.
For team members in the United States, there is no official minimum number of paid days off that team members must take. For team members outside of the United States, the official minimum number of paid days off are set by local country regulations and can be found on the homepage of your Deel account.
We encourage all Columnists to plan to take at least 15 days off per year regardless of whether or not a statutory minimum applies to your work location.
How to use paid time-off
We want it to be simple to request and use time-off. We also want to be able to plan projects and initiatives that impact our customers and our team around team members’ time-off. To do that, we need a record of who will be out of the office and when.
For all Columnists worldwide
- As a courtesy, we ask that all time-off requests are submitted at least three working days in advance for two or more consecutive weekdays off and two weeks in advance for five or more business days off.
- Your manager should review and approve or deny the requested time-off within 2 business days. You should expect time-off requests to be approved unless they would meaningfully interfere with your work (e.g., request to suddenly take many weeks off in a row, request to take unexpected time-off while on a time-limited performance improvement plan, request to take time-off on the biggest product launch day of the year when you’re the product lead, etc.).
- Once the time-off request is approved, please block your calendar to indicate that you are out of office and unavailable for meetings and interviews.
- You do not need to request time-off for events that are less than one business day in length. For those instances, please simply block your calendar.
